The World Rally Championship teams will return to Monza for the first time since 2021 this December thanks to Pirelli.
In celebration of its four-year agreement as the WRC’s official tire supplier coming to an end at the end of the season, Toyota, Hyundai and M-Sport Ford will all run Rally1 cars at this year’s Monza Rally Show (December 6-8).
The event, promoted by Pirelli in conjunction with WRC Promoter, the FIA and the Monza circuit itself, will see the Rally1 machines perform demonstration runs on Friday and Saturday before competing in a Master Show on Sunday.
The drivers of the cars are yet to be announced.
The competitive element of the main event will be reserved for Rally2 machines.
“We are delighted to bring the World Rally Championship back to Monza, which we consider our home,” said Terenzio Testoni, Pirelli rally activity manager.
“For us it will be an opportunity to look back at our time as sole supplier to the WRC, four successful years, during which we learned a great deal. It will also be the occasion to say goodbye to the world championship while reiterating that rallying is still an important activity for us.”
The WRC visited Monza in 2020 and ’21 as the calendar was in need of a contingency plan following event cancellations through the coronavirus pandemic.
Sébastien Ogier won both events, and clinched his seventh and eighth world titles at the circuit too.
Hankook will take over from Pirelli as the WRC’s sole tire supplier in 2025.
