It’s the brand that launched the careers of Sebastien Ogier, Richard Burns and Colin McRae.
But Peugeot’s next superstar could be you.
The Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup North America has landed, and is set to revolutionize the American rallying landscape with prize money and a career ladder into the WRC.
“Any time a manufacturer is involved in the sport it can be only positive,” reigning world champion Sébastien Ogier told DirtFish.
“So for sure I wish the best for the series. [One-make rallying] was for me the best school of rallying I could have and yeah, I wish that for the next generation.”
Here’s everything you need to know about North America’s new rally championship.
How it works
The 208 Rally4 and the North American stages - your new rallying combo?
Held across the United States and Canada, this all-new, one-make championship exclusively for the Peugeot 208 Rally4 pits drivers against one another in pursuit of continental glory.
All eight American Rally Association National rounds, and the first six Canadian Rally Championship rallies, are eligible, with competitors nominating up to six points scoring rounds.
The best four of those will count before the Lake Superior Performance Rally hosts the semi final and Rallye de Charlevoix the final, which is worth double points.
What’s on offer
The Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup North America rewards drivers with free tires on a sliding scale for finishing in the top three of any event. The winner will receive three tires, down to one for third place.
But there’s also prize drives available to the overall champion, who can choose to either drive a Citroën C3 Rally2 on any North American event in 2027, or a 208 Rally4 at a round of the World or European championship.
The 208 is also a proven package with several Open 2WD victories in ARA in 2025, and even outright victory in Canada in the hands of Junior ERC champion Calle Carlberg.
Throughout 2025, the 208 proved its capabilities in North America
“It’s the perfect car for beginners, but it’s also a perfect car for more experienced drivers because you can get a lot out of it,” Carlberg told DirtFish.
“I think we’ve shown if you want to be American two-wheel-drive champion you know what car to buy. They’re very effective and very easy to drive. I hope that more and more people can see the performance and potential in the car.”
Flexibility to the fore
The beauty of the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup North America is the freedom it offers competitors.
Unlike international one-make series such as Junior WRC, or even other regional Stellantis-backed championships, competitors can pick their own event calendar – with options to either purchase or rent a 208 to compete as well.
On, and off, event support comes courtesy of Stellantis Motorsport’s official partner for North America, Team FJ, with Argonaut Motor Club listed as technical partner for the US. And while the 208 is not sold in North America, parts supply and spares packages will be no problem with regular shipments coming from France.
Competitors score points on up to six events, but can choose which
Sean Donnelly of Argonaut Motor Club explained: “The idea of the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup North America is to create a genuine pathway for aspiring drivers to climb the ladder with support from an official manufacturer.
“That means everything you need will be at your disposal, from tires and spare parts to service crew, repairs and even just setup advice, we’ve got you covered.
“But best of all, you’ll be driving a seriously fun car with the opportunity to win back money and further your career. I’ve committed to Rally3 for next year but I’ve already got the fear of missing out. I can’t wait for the competition.”
