Reigning World Rally Champion Ott Tänak hadn’t set foot in a World Rally Car since finishing second at Rally México in mid-March, a time that now feels a distant memory.
But with Hyundai back on the stages in Finland, testing out updates to its i20 Coupe WRC, it gave Tänak a much-welcomed opportunity to get behind the wheel of a fully-charged WRC car for the first time in three months. And it was in the most iconic of rally locations anywhere in the world: Ouninpohja.
He’d already tested an i20 R5 run by his RedGrey outfit back in Estonia a few weeks prior. But this was something else. A current generation WRC car on Ouninpohja. It doesn’t get much better than that.
