Marcus Grönholm capped off a dominant performance in the Legends class to claim victory in the final race of the Magic Weekend at Höljes.

The two-time World Rally Champion, driving son Niclas’ Hyundai i20, started from pole position in the final and led the way into the first corner.

Behind the Finn, Helmia Motorsport’s Stig-Olov Walfridson and Hedströms Motorsport’s Henning Solberg went side-by-side into the first turn, with Solberg electing to take his joker straight away.

Walfridson was left to battle with Andréas Eriksson’s Ford Fiesta, with the pair engaging in a superb fight for second.

Eriksson made an audacious lunge down the inside of Walfridson at Velodrome but ran too deep which allowed Walfridson to momentarily reclaim the position.

Walfridson then jokered soon after, with the time loss associated with the battle handing Solberg the eventual runner-up spot behind Grönholm.

Eriksson’s charge ultimately ended following a mistake at the joker exit; the Swede clipped the marker and then the barrier before spinning into the path of Walfridson.

Grönholm was untroubled on his way to the win, with Walfridson claiming the final step on the podium.

Per Eklund finished a distant fifth in his Volkswagen Beetle, having been the only driver to take part in the additional morning practice session.

The 74-year-old struggled to get off the line and came home 31 seconds behind Grönholm.
