Video: UK rallying returns with M-Sport event

The DirtFish team headed to the Lake District to capture UK rallying's triumphant return

Colin Clark said it best. It was the morning we’d all been waiting for. After an absence of some 23 weeks, rallying returned to the forests of Great Britain on Saturday thanks to M-Sport and the Return to Rally Stages.

The event was hugely significant for all involved, giving rally drivers across the UK a reprieve from the difficult last few months they’ve all endured. And it gave M-Sport the opportunity to thank all of its customers from over the years, with entries for the event restricted to M-Sport manufactured cars only.

The factory team’s presence was an obvious star attraction, with Matthew Wilson taming the latest specification Ford Fiesta Rally1 and WRC2 pilots Rhys Yates and Adrien Fourmaux bringing Rally2 machinery to the party.

Beyond the works team cars, it was a success for all involved. Unless of course you’re Malcolm Wilson, who had to make rallying’s equivalent of the walk of shame as he returned to the service park without his Ford Escort Mk2.

Hear from Wilson Sr and on-the-road winner Wilson Jr – the M-Sport cars withdrew from the final results after the event, handing victory to Focus WRC driver Frank Bird – as well as catching up with some in-stage highlights from the action in Greystoke.
