After a successful debut last year, Red Bull Homestretch is returning for a new three-round Gran Turismo virtual race series where rallycross stars Travis Pastrana, Scott Speed, and Timmy Hansen will be joined by Formula 1 race winner Pierre Gasly.
Gasly, who has spent his entire F1 career with Red Bull teams Toro Rosso/AlphaTauri and Red Bull Racing, rounds out an impressive real-world driver line-up.
But there will also be a number of celebrity participants including basketball players Robbie Hummel, Canyon Barry, Dominique Jones and Kareem Maddox; professional basketball personality, rapper and entrepreneur Johnny ‘Dribble2Much’ Stephene; and BMX World Champion and two-time X Games medalist Francisco ‘Coco’ Zurita.
Among the virtual machines being driven will be two different variations of the Subaru WRX STI for Pastrana and Speed – adorned with their respective Nitro Rallycross liveries – and a high-performance hillclimb-like Peugeot BRZ for Hansen.
The series centers around fun, but with an individual champion crowned for each event, the drivers will still be keen to bag the bragging rights.
What’s more, fans will have the ability to vote on which tracks are used race tracks, and could feature in the broadcast themselves. Each viewer will accrue ‘Bull Coin’ points while they watch, which they can then use to cheer on their favorite driver.
The event will be played on Gran Turismo Sport on PlayStation 5 and livestreamed exclusively on Red Bull’s Twitch channel starting at 9am PST.
