SS17 of this year’s Safari Rally Kenya has been shortened by 3.10km (1.92 miles) after the first pass on Sunday morning was canceled.
Oserian kickstarted Sunday’s final leg but proved to be a difficult stage, particularly at the start with deep sections of fesh-fesh sand causing grip and visibility problems for crews.
Ott Tänak came to a standstill, Sébastien Ogier was halted as dust caused his clutch to stop working and fesh-fesh later on in the stage upset Oliver Solberg’s engine and he had to change his air filter, blocking the road and causing the stage to be scrapped.

Drivers had raised concerns over the condition of the stage of the second pass and the Safari Rally Kenya organizer has reacted, moving the start location to avoid the fesh-fesh at the beginning of the test.
The stage length has now been reduced to 14.42km (8.96 miles) and will begin at 11.29am local time.
