In response to Dani Sordo’s fire and Craig Breen’s accident on Friday morning’s loop of Rally Japan, the event organizer has shortened SS5 and canceled SS7.

Sordo’s Hyundai caught ablaze on the already famous Isegami’s Tunnel test after the battery aboard his car caught fire.

Sordo pulled up immediately once he realized the gravity of the situation but the stage was subsequently canceled as emergency services attended the scene.

For safety reasons, given the ash left on the road where the Hyundai completely burnt out, the stop-line of the second pass (which kicks off the afternoon loop) has therefore been brought forward to just before where Sordo parked up.

Inabu Dam, which was canceled in the morning as a result of Sordo’s fire causing delays, will run as planned but the Shitara Town R test won’t run at all.

It was canceled on the first pass after Breen went off and hit a barrier, and due to damage sustained to that barrier the event organizer has removed it from the afternoon’s itinerary.
