The women racers breaking barriers here and now

Jndia Erbacher, Vanessa Ruck and Michele Abbate had plenty of insight at the WiM Summit

DirtFish’s first panel at the Women in Motorsport Summit was all about those who had ascended to the very top of their world. Michèle Mouton, a World Rally Championship winner, Pernilla Solberg, the head of the FIA’s WRC Commission and Becs Williams, the ever-present voice narrating every twist and turn of the WRC on live television.

But what of the women making a name for themselves today?

We brought together three women blazing a trail for themselves: drag racer Jndia Erbacher, Trans-Am driver Michele Abbate and motorcycle racer Vanessa Ruck.

There have been challenges along the way: there’s Abbate starting her own company in parallel to growing her racing career; Erbacher talking her way into becoming the racer in the family, and Ruck on making a career out of going fast after a life-changing accident.

And for all three, there’s the challenge of dealing with imposter syndrome.

Watch the most important stories from the Breaking Barriers panel of the Summit below.
