Five-time and defending Dakar Rally winner Nasser Al-Attiyah will drive for Dacia in 2025, where he will partner nine-time World Rally champion Sébastien Loeb and Cristina Gutiérrez.
The Qatari will begin testing for the brand next year, following the conclusion of his previously confirmed 2024 Dakar efforts in a Prodrive Hunter T1+
Dacia is making its first foray into the world of rally-raid with a yet-to-be-announced vehicle, and adding the two-time FIA World Rally-Raid champion will give the debutant one of the most experienced line-ups in the sport for its debut campaign.
The team has also confirmed that Al-Attiyah, along with Loeb and Gutiérrez, will take part in a full 2025 W2RC season.
“I’m really so happy to be part of the Dacia family,” said Al-Attiyah. “It’s a nice brand, I see it all over the world. And also I want to work for this brand in the Middle East; I think we have a good brand and it’s a good idea also to compete in Dakar.
“I think it will be a strong team, and we will try to win from the first year.
“It’s a dream team; I have a lot of respect for Sébastien Loeb and Cristina [Gutiérrez]. I have a good relationship with both drivers.
“Our aim is to win with this beautiful brand: Dacia.”
The 2024 Dakar Rally runs from January 5-19, and marks the fifth edition of the off-road endurance event to be held in Saudi Arabia.
