Travis Pastrana has moved clear of Ken Block in their battle for second on Oregon Trail Rally with three stage wins from three on Sunday’s first loop.
Pastrana – the 2021 American Rally Association presented by DirtFish National Champion – had led Block by just 2.1 seconds overnight after 10 of 18 stages.
But from as early as SS11 Boyd Loop it was clear Pastrana meant business. He doubled his advantage on that test and then stretched it into double figures with yet another stage win on Shadow Buck.
However SS13 Starveout seems to have killed the contest. Block was 13.1s slower than Pastrana, leaving him now 23.2s behind.
Pastrana is now almost closer to his rally leading team-mate Brandon Semenuk; Semenuk’s rally lead now down to 26.7s as he looks to bank his first victory of 2021.
Hamad Al-Wahaibi has continued to excel on Sunday driving a McKenna Motorsport Ford Fiesta Rally2. He has been fourth fastest on every single stage of OTR so far – outpacing the returning Kyle Tilley (who didn’t start on Saturday because of electrical problems) across Sunday morning.
Javier Castro is secure in fifth – debuting an R4 car in the USA – while Enda McCormack and John Coyne have remained competitive in sixth and seventh. McCormack was beaten on SS11 but beat his rival on SS12 and SS13 to hold a 34.2s advantage.
The rest of the top 10 remains unchanged. George Plsek, Tony Torchia and Derik Nelson hold those places.
