Ott Tänak will make his American Rally Association debut at next month’s Overmountain Rally Tennessee, driving a Toyota GR Corolla Rally RC2.

The Estonian driver won the World Rally Championship for Toyota in 2019 before leaving the outfit to join Hyundai, but rejoined the team in a testing and development role in 2026.

Tänak’s main priority has been testing Toyota’s new 2027 WRC challenger, but he did make a public appearance at last month’s Rally di Roma Capitale which is set to replace Sardinia as Italy’s WRC round in 2027.

That weekend Tänak drove a GR Yaris Rally2 and didn’t officially compete, but he will line up alongside team-mate Seth Quintero at Overmountain on September 18-19.

A statement from Toyota read: “Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja will take part in the ARA National Championship round at Overmountain Rally Tennessee on September 18-19, driving the second GR Corolla Rally RC2 alongside Seth Quintero and Topi Luhtinen.

“The Estonian crew’s participation forms part of their ongoing testing work, helping the team gather valuable knowledge of the local gravel roads in a region under consideration for a future WRC event in the United States.”

Toyota’s GR Corolla Rally RC2 debuted in the ARA earlier this year, winning four of the five rallies it has started so far in the hands of Quintero and Jari-Matti Latvala.
