There's a new season opener in Spain and Rally Poland returns, but Latvia misses out

A revamped European Rally Championship calendar has been revealed for 2025, including a new season-opener in Spain and the return of Rally Poland, but no Rally Latvia.

Once again comprising eight events with five on Tarmac and three on gravel, next year’s ERC begins with its first visit to Rallye Internacional Sierra Morena (April 4-6) based in the Spanish city of Córdoba.

Up next is a trio of loose-surface events, starting with Rally Hungary (May 9-11) followed by Royal Rally of Scandinavia (May 29-31) and Rally Poland (June 13-15) which returns to the ERC after a season in the World Rally Championship.

The back half of the calendar is largely unchanged from 2024, with Rally Roma di Capitale (July 4-6), Barum Rally Zlín (August 15-17) and Rali Ceredigion (September 5-7) all remaining.

But there’s a new season finale, with Croatia Rally moving from an April to an October 3-5 date to round out the season. As announced last week, Croatia will return to the WRC in 2026 and ’27.

Poland’s Rally Silesia, Rally Islas Canarias (which has been promoted to the WRC next season) and Rally Estonia (re-promoted back to the WRC) have been dropped, while there is no space for Rally Latvia – a mainstay of the ERC schedule before it joined the WRC in 2024.

ERC championship manager Iain Campbell said: “Once again we count on a calendar that’s the perfect mix of long-standing rallies with those making their mark on the international stage.

“We’re very excited to welcome Rallye Internacional Sierra Morena to the ERC for the first time and also delighted that Croatia Rally and Rally Poland are returning for  what promises to be another action-packed schedule of events.

“Indeed, all rallies on the calendar offer a unique and exciting challenge and we’re very fortunate that we continue to work in tandem with our hardworking and dedicated event organizers to deliver a championship that holds such widespread appeal for fans and competitors alike.”

As always, the Junior ERC will remain a six-round affair in 2025, with all events except Royal Rally of Scandinavia and Rali Ceredigion counting towards it.
