The Goodwood Festival of Speed has been called off on Saturday (July 15) due to a severe wind warning in the south-east of the UK.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Goodwood is a staple of the global motorsport calendar and has successfully run for two days this year.

But severe weather impacted the event – which this year features all three of the World Rally Championship’s Rally1 manufacturers Toyota, Hyundai and M-Sport Ford – on Friday and the organizer has been left with no choice but to cancel the third day of the event.

In a statement, Goodwood said: “On-site safety is our highest priority and the forecasted high winds will pose a serious risk to various temporary structures across the site.

“We politely ask that you do not travel to Goodwood or attempt to access the site.”

The Festival will resume as planned on Sunday.

Spectators with a Saturday ticket will be contacted in due course regarding a refund.
