A factory Ford Fiesta World Rally Car will be in attendance when one of rallying’s most popular festival events, Rallylegend, is staged in October.

The event, which takes place in San Marino and is scheduled for October 8-11, is always one of the seasonal highlights, with some of rallying’s biggest names turning out some of the finest machinery from history.

Which M-Sport Ford World Rally Team driver takes the wheel of the Fiesta WRC has yet to be decided, but team principal Richard Millener said he was happy to confirm the appearance with the backing of Michelin.

“The Ford Fiesta WRC is one of our most special and successful cars and what we achieved will be remembered for a very long time,” said Millener.

“But none of it would have been possible without the support of our partners, and it’s a pleasure to be able to showcase it at an event as prestigious as Rallylegend with a partner as valued and respected as Michelin.”

The organizer of the 18th Rallylegend admitted its decision to commit to the October date was not an easy one under the current COVID-affected circumstances, but is now working on a star-studded entry list.

Speaking last month, following confirmation that the 2020 event will go ahead, Rallylegend creator Vito Piarulli said: “Since many months we are pleasantly overwhelmed by requests and friendly incitements to stage Rallylegend.

“This has happened even more during these last months with the pandemic.

“It took us a long time to decide what to do, considering the many restrictions and duties involved in the organization of an international event such as Rallylegend in compliance with the government instructions concerning COVID-19.

“The support we’ve received both from the government of the San Marino Republic and our sponsors have been crucial to us to decide to attempt such a feat.”

Further details of how Rallylegend and the Rallylegend village will work, while catering for the thousands of fans attending from around the world, will be outlined in the coming months.
