Watch: Rovanperä roars through Finnish forests in Toyota test

Watch behind-the-scenes action of Toyota's first post-lockdown test only on DirtFish

It’s been three months since a Toyota Yaris WRC was driven in anger anywhere in the world. But earlier today, not too far from Rally Finland headquarters in Jyväskylä, Kalle Rovanperä was able to fire up the Yaris once again.

There was a little bit of rust to shake off, but it didn’t take long for the teenage prodigy to get back on the pace.

Likewise team boss Tommi Mäkinen was relieved to see one of his Toyota machines out on the stages. Being based in Puuppola, a small village right at the heart of Rally Finland country, has its advantages, with WRC stages right on Toyota’s doorstep.

DirtFish is present in Finland all this week, and Colin Clark caught up with Mäkinen and Rovanperä to find out how day one was unfolding.

If you’ve missed the sights and sounds of top WRC machinery at full chat, you won’t want to miss this video.
