Behind the scenes with Rovanperä in Killarney

We went behind the scenes with the two-time world champions when they visited Ireland last month

Top Gun Maverick? Maybe. Gladiator II? Quite likely. But actually, the most anticipated film in years – as far as we’re concerned – is this one: Killarney, with Kalle and Jonne.

DirtFish was delighted to join two-time world champions Rovanperä and Halttunen when they made their Irish rallying debut late last month. We followed them from recce to finish ramp in a journey which thrilled tens of thousands of fans and two Finns.

Stepping out of Jason Black’s Toyota Starlet for the final time, having made the very best use of all the 380 horses on offer, Rovanperä stood for a moment and smiled.

“That was proper fun,” he grinned. “But next time, we will bring the weather!”

Similarly, Halttunen will be happy to be back.

“What a rally,” he said. “What a place. So many people and so much fun. Thank you for coming with us DirtFish.”

It was our pleasure, boys. Now sit back and enjoy the memory.
