World Rally Championship privateer Lorenzo Bertelli has confirmed he will be back in an M-Sport Ford Puma Rally1 at some point in the future.

Bertelli is a long-time customer of M-Sport, having competed on multiple WRC rounds in Ford Fiesta R5s as well as World Rally Cars in WRC and WRC2 since 2013.

That partnership was put on hold when Bertelli drove a customer Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 at last month’s Rally Sweden.

At the finish of the Umeå event, Bertelli talked enthusiastically about the experience – calling it “inspiring” – but added that his M-Sport story was far from over.

“Sooner or later, you will see me back in an M-Sport car,” he explained to DirtFish.

“I don’t have plans this year, so it depends when I can, if the team [has a free car].

“A lot of things have to match so I don’t have the answer.”

Although Bertelli doesn’t have a concrete program for the rest of the year, he does have two specific events in mind.

“For sure Italy, also Greece is back in the calendar, I like it.”
