Details emerge about Rally Saudi Arabia candidate event

Based at the F1 circuit in Jeddah, the event will take place on May 1-3 offering 12 special stages

Saudi Arabia’s preparations to enter the World Rally Championship step up this May, when it’ll host its candidate event in Jeddah.

Details of that event have now been revealed, offering a taste of what’s to come when Saudi hosts the finale to the 2025 WRC season on November 27-30.

Taking place on May 1-3, and added as the third qualifying round of the Middle East Rally Championship, the event comprises 12 stages totalling 120 miles – promising a range of terrain from “vast desert landscapes to rugged volcanic rock and dramatic mountain passes”.

The rally will be based at the Jeddah Corniche circuit which hosts Formula 1’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, with cars prepared inside the pit garages.

It’s unknown if World Rally Championship teams will enter Rally2 cars into the rally to gain experience of a region that’s brand-new to the world championship, but the event takes place a week after the fourth round of the WRC in Gran Canaria.

Entries for the event are now open.
