DirtFish Argentina Week: And the winner is…

Result of top-six WRC predictor rounds out Argentina week

Andreas Mikkelsen

It’s the end of DirtFish’s Argentina Week and we’ll bring proceedings to a close in the same way we would if the fourth round of the World Rally Championship had actually happened – by bringing you a result.

A big thanks to everybody who took part in the #DirtFishArgentinaWeek top-six prediction.

An afternoon spent on the abacus has shown a big win for reigning World Rally Champion Ott Tänak.

Tänak told DirtFish ahead of the event that he expected Sébastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans to be close rivals. He wasn’t wrong.

Ott Tanak

Predictably, Tänak backed himself for the win and reckoned his fellow i20 Coupe WRC drivers Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo would be second and third (a Hyundai podium lock-out equally predictable from the Hyundai star!). After that, he went with Ogier, Evans and Esapekka Lappi.

An incredible 46% of you voted for a maiden Hyundai Motorsport win for the Estonian, with 92% registering him as a would-be podium dweller had we just emerged from three days of South American competition.

Behind Tänak, Toyota Gazoo Racing driver Ogier stole second by a single second (one point) from his team-mate Evans – not the first time the Welshman has missed out by a small margin in Argentina.

Monte Carlo Rally winner Thierry Neuville was four points down on Evans in fourth place. M-Sport drivers Esapekka Lappi and Teemu Suninen rounded out the top six.

We’ll repeat the predictive result as part of #DirtFishPortugalWeek, starting on Monday May 18.
