Elfyn Evans will not score manufacturer points in Croatia as Toyota has agreed to nominate just two cars like its two World Rally Championship rivals.

Following Craig Breen’s fatal accident on Thursday, Hyundai is running just two cars – for Thierry Neuville and Esapekka Lappi – after deliberating whether it would contest Croatia Rally at all.

Breen was due to drive the third i20 N Rally1, which Dani Sordo will take over for next month’s Rally Portugal.

M-Sport Ford meanwhile is running its usual pair of Puma Rally1s for Ott Tänak and Pierre-Louis Loubet.

WRC regulations allow manufacturer teams to register three cars for championship points, with the highest two scoring points for the manufacturers championship.

But so as to not hold any advantage over Hyundai, Toyota has amended its entry to nominate just championship leader Sébastien Ogier and reigning world champion Kalle Rovanperä.

Evans will compete only for drivers championship points, as will team-mate Takamoto Katsuta who was never down to contribute towards Toyota’s manufacturers challenge.

Toyota currently leads Hyundai by 27 points in the standings.
