Few countries are gripped by rally fever quite like Portugal.

As a mainstay of the World Rally Championship for decades now, thousands of fans turn out every year to watch the world’s best rally drivers dancing on the limit of grip provided by northern Portugal’s gravel roads.

But it’s not always gravel. Sometimes it rains. And that rain can be biblical. That gravel becomes mud.

In this week’s SPIN, The Rally Pod, David Evans and George Donaldson look back at some of Portugal’s most famous rally moments – both the good and the bad – plus there’s insight into how a third-tier rally car managed to set top 10 stage times on Croatia Rally.
