Adrien Fourmaux has crashed out of Rally Italy Sardinia on the penultimate stage of Saturday.
The Frenchman had started the second leg in the fight for victory, but his chances were squandered with a puncture on the second stage of the day.
That had dropped him to seventh, and the Hyundai driver lost further time when he overshot a corner on SS9 – distracted by dust in the car which caused him to mishear a pacenote.
But Fourmaux’s day finally ended on SS11, when he rolled his i20 onto its roof at a tight corner, just 1.9km into the Lerno – Su Filigosu test.
Elfyn Evans also stopped with a puncture, but ironically gained a place as Sami Pajari also stopped to change a tire but lost more time.
