Toyota technical director Tom Fowler has ruled himself out of the running for the role of Hyundai Motorsport World Rally Championship team principal.

Fowler was the latest name to be linked to the position vacated by Andrea Adamo earlier this month, but says his priority remains Toyota.

“After all the effort that has gone into the world championships with the Yaris WRC in the last five years – and the Yaris Rally1 for the seasons ahead – even if a position like that was on the table, it would be impossible to walk away from what we have created here at Toyota,” Fowler told DirtFish.

There remains intense speculation over who will replace temporary team principal Scott Noh at Hyundai.

Much as the squad will be keen to sort that position, its current focus is very much on its i20 N Rally1 test in France.

Having driven a new test car earlier this week in Germany, Thierry Neuville drove the car on Monte-style roads for the first time since his enormous crash on Saturday.
