Video: How King Kalle made WRC history

At just 22 years of age, he is the youngest ever WRC champion

King Kalle – the World Rally Championship is now officially your kingdom.

Victory on Rally New Zealand, boosted by a win on the powerstage, means Rovanperä and co-driver Jonne Halttunen are the new World Rally champions.

Rovanperä has always seemed destined for rallying greatness as soon as footage emerged online of him sliding a Toyota Starlet at the tender age of just eight.

But to become the new world champion at just 22 years of age is an utterly incredible feat – and to do so by making it all look so easy too has been exceptional.

It’s clear that Rovanperä is no ordinary person, but what makes him so special? How is he so good, so soon? And how much better can he become?

DirtFish spoke to those that know him best to understand just what makes our new world champion who he is.
