Hyundai has elected not to run Adrien Fourmaux on Saturday of Safari Rally Kenya, instead saving his car for Super Sunday.

Fourmaux has already retired twice from the third round of the 2025 World Rally Championship.

He first exited the contest in between SS1 and SS2 on Thursday when the master relay failed aboard his i20 N Rally1, leaving Fourmaux and co-driver Alexandre Coria unable to coax the car into life despite their great effort.

Restarting on Friday, albeit with a 10-minute penalty for missing a stage, Fourmaux got through the morning with speed that would’ve been good enough to place him third.

But a puncture on the first stage of the afternoon, which Fourmaux decided not to stop and change, ended up damaging his suspension and forcing him out the rally again.

Fourmaux’s car had been on Saturday’s start list, due to run first on the road, but lying 50 minutes off the lead Hyundai elected not to send him out to Saturday’s six stages with any regular world championship points unlikely.

A Hyundai Motorsport statement read: “With nothing to gain today, we’ve elected not to restart Adrien and Alex in order to have the car in the best possible shape to attack on Super Sunday.”

Speaking to DirtFish last night, Fourmaux suggested he would be out today.

“I still want to have some feeling because, as you know, I did not test this car before coming here and so I’m still learning it, so I want to get it set for Sunday,” he said.

However he did admit “only Sunday points” would be possible for him as “we are too far” away from the rest of the pack.
