Pierre-Louis Loubet has rejoined M‑Sport, undertaking a WRC2 program beginning with next month’s Rally Portugal.
The 2019 WRC2 champion drove a Ford Puma Rally1 for a full campaign in 2023 as team-mate to Ott Tänak after an impressive part-time season the previous year, but dropped back to WRC2 in a Toksport Škoda last season.
However three accidents and a mechanical problem meaning Loubet’s only finish of the season was in Poland, where he claimed a frustrated fifth in WRC2 after a puncture on the powerstage.
Loubet started his first rally in over six months last weekend, steering a Citroën C3 Rally2 to a dominant win at Portugal’s Rallye Capital do Queijo alongside co-driver Loris Pascaud.
Now he has announced that he will restart his WRC commitment in Portugal, behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta Rally2 for the very first time.
Loubet's last outing with M-Sport was the Central European Rally in 2023 in a Puma Rally1 – after which he was replaced by Adrien Fourmaux
“I’m happy to share that I’ll be back in WRC2 this season with M-Sport. I’ll have Loris Pascaud by my side, and we’ll start our season at Rally Portugal, driving the Fiesta Rally2.
“Huge thanks to my partners and above all to M-Sport for welcoming me back into the team. Thanks for all your support, can’t wait to get back out there!”
