Grégoire Munster was called upon to help Hyundai last week ahead of Rally Sweden

Hyundai Motorsport has confirmed Grégoire Munster did drive its i20 N Rally1 cars as part of the team’s Rally Sweden preparations last week.

Munster was called upon to complete roll-outs for the three entry cars for this week’s Umeå-based World Rally Championship qualifier, but the team’s sporting director Andrew Wheatley has dismissed speculation the Luxembourg driver is closing on a 2026 WRC seat.

“Grég’s on the list for drivers we can use for roll-outs and he has done this for the team many times before,” Wheatley told DirtFish. “We needed some help, so we called him. He’s familiar with the location we use for our roll-outs, so it made sense. That’s pretty much all this is, Grég is well known to the team here and someone we can trust.

“We needed help and Grég answered the call.”

Munster has done nothing to hide his desire to drive for the Korean manufacturer – pointing out that his Monte Carlo Rally entry was made in an effort to demonstrate his potential ahead of Hyundai’s selected driver Hayden Paddon.
