Further decisions regarding the calendar for the remainder of the 2020 World Rally Championship season will be taken in the first week of April, DirtFish has learned.
The spread of COVID-19 has already caused the postponement of next month’s Rally Argentina – a decision announced during the Rally México weekend earlier this month.
But WRC Promoter Oliver Ciesla insisted no further decisions will be taken until there is clear guidance at a government level.
Ciesla told DirtFish: “At the moment all the events will continue to prepare their events as if it would be happening normally. This includes Italy [scheduled to run on the island of Sardinia from 4-7 June].
“Our next deadline comes in the first week of April when most governments will make new decisions and new estimates on how the situation in the country is.
“And this is the database we need to build our plans. Everything else is irrelevant right now.”
