Mãrtiņš Sesks has talked DirtFish through his accident on SS14 of Rally Finland.
The M-Sport driver had been fifth overall, concentrating on keeping Adrien Fourmaux’s Hyundai behind him, before he went off at high speed on the final stage of Saturday morning.
The car rolled a couple of times before coming to a rest in the trees, but both Sesks and co-driver Renãrs Francis are OK.
“When I was approaching, probably I didn’t hit the apex right because the road’s a bit curved and then, yeah, hit us on the outer line,” Sesks told DirtFish.
“It still seemed OK, but there on the exit, there’s a ditch which just put us up in the air, and then yeah I rolled a few times. But all the wheels are intact and I think we are still capable of driving ourselves.
“The most important [thing is] that the front is OK,” he added. “Rear is just the roof and everything which is made from carbon fiber.”
While a crash is naturally disappointing, Sesks can take positives from the pace he showed prior to it.
“Yeah, I think as well this morning, the stages before, the pace was good – maybe as we crashed, probably I took it a bit too much in places, but yeah, I was trying my best,” he surmised.
Sesks doesn’t know if he will be able to restart on Sunday, but hopes that he can.
“Let’s see, let’s get the car back to the service and then we see what we can do tomorrow,” he said.
“Of course it would be good to be back in the car and to drive tomorrow.”
