Oliver Solberg will be in a Rally1 car as early as next week, when he competes at Rallye National Hivernal du Dévoluy as warm-up for the Monte Carlo Rally.
The WRC2 champion was announced as a Toyota Gazoo Racing driver earlier this month, but has only ever driven the GR Yaris Rally1 at Rally Estonia – where he won.
Dévoluy (December 6/7) will be the perfect opportunity for the Swede to get up to speed with the car, and get useful experience of Monte Carlo-style terrain.
Twelve months ago, Adrien Fourmaux used the same event to learn his Hyundai after switching from M-Sport Ford, and beat Toyota’s Kalle Rovanperä by 15.5 seconds.
The Frenchman will be back in La Joue du Loup in 2025, joining Solberg in a Rally1 car.
Hayden Paddon is another notable entry, driving a Hyundai i20 N Rally2. The recently crowned Australian champion hasn’t rallied in France since the 2017 Tour de Corse.
Rallye National Hivernal du Dévoluy offers competitors 10 special stages across two days, totalling 85.4 miles.
