World Rally champion Ott Tänak and co-driver Martin Järveoja will stay in hospital overnight for monitoring after their huge Monte Carlo Rally crash.
The pair got out of their wrecked Hyundai without aid, and initial medical checks in hospital suggested they have escaped uninjured.
But because of the severity of the accident, Tänak and Järveoja will be kept in through the night for what a Hyundai statement described as “precautionary monitoring”.
Tänak was running fourth on his Hyundai debut when his car became unsettled over compressions on Friday’s second stage and ran wide.
The i20 was launched off the road into a violent accident during which it felled a tree before landing at the bottom of a substantial drop.
Hyundai also confirmed Tänak will definitely not restart the rally later in the weekend.
