World Rally champion Ott Tänak has crashed out from fourth place on the season-opening Rallye Monte-Carlo.
Tänak has switched from Toyota to Hyundai for the 2020 season and was lying in fourth overall behind Thierry Neuville, Elfyn Evans and Sébastien Ogier heading into SS4 St Clément–Sur–Durnance / Freissinières.
But around halfway through the 12.85-mile test, Tänak lost control of his Hyundai i20 WRC over a high-speed compression and slid off the side of the road into a series of rolls.
Both Tänak and co-driver Martin Järveoja escaped the incident unscathed but they have retired for the day on Friday.
It is so far unclear if they will be able to restart on Saturday.
