Hyundai Motorsport’s Ott Tänak will sit out this month’s World Rally Championship season finale, the Monza Rally, for family reasons.
The 2019 world champion will be replaced in the factory Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC by former M-Sport driver Teemu Suninen.
Tänak said in a statement: “I’m gutted to say this, but unfortunately I’m not able to participate at ACI Rally Monza due to personal family matters.
“This is a tough decision to make, but it’s a needed one.
“I wish the very best of luck to our team for the final round of the championship, there’s still much to fight for!”
While the drivers’ championship fight is an all-Toyota matter between Sébastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans, Hyundai is still in with a shot at a third consecutive manufacturers’ crown.
Suninen made his debut in a Hyundai at last month’s Rally Spain, where he finished 11th overall and second in WRC2 aboard an i20 N Rally2.
