It’s the day American rally fans have been dreaming about ever since that miserable Monday morning midway through 1988 – the day after Miki Biasion won last World Rally Championship event in the United States.
It’s Thursday October 8, 2026 and America is back in the WRC.
Enjoy the moment. Enjoy the fact the world is talking about a Stateside return and enjoy the fact Rally US sits as round 11 on the calendar… directly after the world championship icon that is Rally Finland.
“This moment belongs to the American rally community,” said president and CEO of Rally US, Matt Crews. “For decades, the competitors, volunteers, organizers and fans kept this sport alive on American roads, and their work is what proved to the FIA that our country is ready. We intend to make that community proud.”
And what a day to do that – the day before an absolute thriller of a final round of the ARA National Championship begins in Michigan.
“There’s a lot to be excited about with American rallying right now,” Crews continued. “This week’s LSPR (Lake Superior Performance Rally) is an absolute thriller, effectively a continuation of that winner-takes-all theme from the WRC finale in Sardinia last week.
“Two of America’s brightest rallying stars in Lia Block and Seth Quintero will go flat-out through some of the best and most storied stages in all of America. What a way to conclude a truly memorable year for American rallying.”
President of ACCUS-FIA, USA Kevin Miller said the WRC’s return would only further the sport’s progression, adding: “Rally has a passionate and growing following in the U.S., and bringing the world’s best drivers, teams and manufacturers back to compete on American roads creates an incredible opportunity to showcase our country on the global motorsport stage.
“ACCUS (Automobile Competition Committee for United States) is proud to help make this possible, and we look forward to welcoming the WRC, the FIA and rally fans from around the world back to the United States.”
