The impact of Tänak’s huge Estonia crash

On this week SPIN, The Rally Pod, the team also discuss WRC testing and Ogier's surprise Rally Finland entry

Local drivers stole the show on Rally Estonia. The scrap between Georg Linnamäe and Robert Virves was a battle for the ages. Alas, it began with distraction, as Ott Tänak’s Hyundai i20 N Rally1 rolled onto its side after a fast jump and then began to flip end over end.

That incident has naturally led to knock-on consequences for Hyundai. So Colin Clark, George Donaldson and Alasdair Lindsay have gone on a deep dive in this week’s episode of SPIN, The Rally Pod.

Last week’s Rally Finland entry list also provided a surprise. Sébastien Ogier’s presence in a GR Yaris Rally1 means Toyota will field five cars. That naturally prompts a wider debate about Toyota’s championship challenge – is the rest of the lineup pulling its weight?

WRC testing is also put under the microscope: Elfyn Evans wants more of it, M-Sport wants private testing phased out for group tests – so what’s the solution?
