Rally México 2020 had its fair share of dramatic moments, but those pale into insignificance compared to Ott Tänak’s accident on the World Rally Championship event five years ago.
Tänak rolled off the road and crashed into a reservoir on the first full stage of the rally in 2015, with he and then co-driver Raigo Mõlder escaping unhurt from their M-Sport Ford Fiesta before it sank. Incredibly, the pair returned to action the following day – with Mõlder even salvaging his pacenotes from the car.
In this video, DirtFish speaks to members of the M-Sport team involved – including 2019 WRC champion Tänak – to recount the remarkable fall and rise of the crew that weekend.
