Toyota has revealed a radical new livery for its 2024 World Rally Championship program.
While next year’s GR Yaris Rally1 will retain Toyota’s corporate colors, having the red and white coming out of black is something new. The livery will feature across both the WRC and the Japanese firm’s World Endurance Championship campaigns.
Team principal Jari-Matti Latvala is a big fan of the new look, unveiled in Japan on Tuesday morning.
Latvala told DirtFish: “I am very proud and honored to show you the new GR Yaris Rally1 for WRC season 2024. And yes, in a completely new color and design compared to last year!
“It is an exciting time right now with the GR Yaris facelift for 2024 and our customer motorsport program. To celebrate this we wanted to bring an exciting and fresh look for the fans – and it’s quite a make-over from what we started with back in 2017.
“It looks sporty, full of purpose and eye-catching. This is what rally cars are all about.”
In communicating the new colors, Toyota stated: “There are two concepts for the all-new matt black livery for the GR Yaris Rally1 and the GR010 HYBRID [WEC car], which compete in both FIA World Championships. One of the concepts is ‘speed’ representing our spirit [of] ‘hate to lose.’
“The other one is the ‘prototype’ which represents making ever-better motorsports-bred cars and to keep evolving.”
In addition to the black, white and red, the cars feature a silver reflective roof – aimed more at keeping the crews cool rather than adding to the livery.
