Among the most treasured cars in the DirtFish collection is one of Colin McRae’s early 2000s Ford Focus RS WRCs.
A few years ago, Colin’s brother Alister visited the DirtFish Rally School in Seattle and gave a sense of what the car could do – and you can enjoy his exploits in the video above.
This particular Focus has a short but remarkable history. It was only used in the World Rally Championship three times, starting in Sanremo in 2001 before being taken to fourth on the 2002 season-opening Monte Carlo Rally.
Then on its next appearance in Corsica, the car was involved in one of McRae’s most terrifying crashes – with a violent impact with a tree on the driver’s side leaving him with concussion and hand injuries.
The damaged car was kept at M-Sport’s base and didn’t rally again, before finally being restored to its original glory in the wake of McRae’s tragic death in a helicopter crash in 2007. It subsequently became part of the DirtFish collection.
