Kevin Hansen will drive a TN5 CrossCar for LifeLive Nordic in the CrossCar class at the next round of RallyX Nordic at Arvika on August 7-9.
It follows brother Timmy’s appearance in the category at the season opener at Höljes earlier this month and will be the first competitive appearance of the year for the reigning Nitro Rallycross Champion and TitansRX series winner.
“It’s really exciting for me to start the season finally,” said Hansen.
“It was really good seeing Timmy and Thierry [Neuville] drive in Höljes and seeing the progress we’ve made with the TN5. Now it will be great to be back behind the wheel representing LifeLive Nordic.
“I’m really happy to be back and I’m really excited to race in CrossCar again for the first time in quite a while. The last time was in the winter RallyX on Ice event in 2018, where I won the series, so it’s really great to be coming back.
Hansen’s race appearance in the CrossCar is part of a development program by LifeLive and Hansen Motorsport which is assisting the Belgian manufacturer. The TN5 Hansen will drive is heavier than other cars competing in the Nordic region owing to the latest safety regulations, but the Swede says that recent developments to the machine will allow it to remain competitive.
“Since the team’s last race at the RallyX Nordic Magic Weekend we have conducted some good development with the TN5, and I believe we can be a bit faster,” he said.
“We will do some testing next week before we head to the race.”
As well as being the younger Hansen brother’s first outing of 2020, the CrossCar appearance will serve as ideal preparation for the World Rallycross season opener, which takes place at Höljes on August 20-23.
“Between this CrossCar race and the World Rallycross season starting I’ve got a lot of driving coming up in the next few weeks, which is really nice,” he said.
“Finally, my season is getting underway, with this being my first race of 2020 and it happening at the track where I won my first RX Lites race in 2014.
“I’ve got a lot of great memories at Arvika: I love the track; the car is amazing, and the competition will be very tough.”
