Nitro Rallycross’s three-part European jaunt has been shortened to just two events following the cancellation of the planned third round of the season at the KymiRing in Finland.

In a statement issued by the series organizer, Nitro Rallycross said that delays with the track build were behind the decision.

“Today Nitro Rallycross regrets to announce that, due to KymiRing’s track still not being fully completed yet per scheduled milestones, Nitro RX’s Finland 2022 stop is cancelled,” read the statement.

“Nitro RX thanks the event promoter, Lahti Events, for all of their efforts to find a solution under very challenging circumstances.”

Opportunities will however be explored to race at the venue in future once the track build is fully completed.

“Nitro Circus has produced successful events in Finland in the past and, given the country’s passion for rallycross and motorsports in general, Nitro RX hopes to be able to return,” the statement continued.

“Once series organizers have clear visibility as to the completion of the circuit as well as the new management structure of KymiRing, Nitro RX will assess the viability of holding future events at the venue.”

As well as being the third stop on the 2022-23 Nitro RX season and the third and final European round, the August 27-28 event was where Jenson Button was set to make his debut; his seat at XITE Energy Racing being filled by five-time World Rally winner Kris Meeke so far.
