Nitro Rallycross is set to return in 2020, but while we await news about that, why not relive last year’s event at the Utah Motorsports Campus?
Designed to combine the best elements of rallycross, motocross, NASCAR (with the banked sections of the course), and action sports, Nitro Rallycross is the brainchild of five-time US rally champion and rallycross regular Travis Pastrana.
The 2019 edition of Nitro Rallycross, again held as a part of the Nitro World Games action sports competition, was memorable for a number of reasons as once again the top stars from Europe and the US came together for what has quickly become the crown jewel event on the rallycross calendar.
It featured most of the 2019 Americas Rallycross field, 2018 event winner Timmy Hansen and his brother Kevin, plus Pastrana and Ken Block, who were both returning after a lengthy absence from the discipline.
Highs included younger Hansen brother Kevin taking victory, Pastrana’s incredible rallycross comeback performance, and nail-biting battles throughout the field; and lows like Scott Speed’s back-breaking injury after overshooting one of the smaller jumps on the course.
