Nitro Rallycross’ previous two events in 2018 and ’19 quickly became iconic thanks to the Utah Motorsports Campus’ incredibly photogenic setting and that gap jump.
2021 was no different, as our man on the ground Trevor Lyden showed. Take a look at some of our favorite shots of the weekend below:
“I am Speed…”
Scott Speed made his return to rallycross for the first time since breaking his back at the same event in 2019. It certainly hasn't slowed him down.
“New car, who dis?”
Steve Arpin swapped Ford for Hyundai and wasted no time in getting up to speed in his new machine. The Canadian impressed throughout the weekend.
Cloudy with a chance of rallycross
The dust might’ve made for some impressive photos – like this one – but it caused havoc for the drivers on more than one occasion.
Larsson’s luckless weekend
Robin Larsson had a bit of a tough weekend. Flashes of speed were punctuated by a few incidents on the track’s first banked corner, which became something of a nemesis of his as the weekend progressed.
Cleared for take-off
Only at Nitro Rallycross would this be deemed normal…
No love lost
Scott Speed and Kevin Eriksson certainly won’t be exchanging Christmas cards this year after already exchanging a few bumps – and words – with one another in Utah.
The Boss
Travis Pastrana got to see the latest evolution of his NRX vision in Utah, and enjoyed arguably the most competitive event of his rallycross career to boot.
That winning feeling
George Megennis is only 16. He’s only done three rallycross events. But his NRX Next win on Saturday was the mature drive of a seasoned veteran.
Line dancing
The unique nature of the Utah Motorsports Campus course gives almost limitless options for how best to take each turn, creating some intriguing battles on track.
Plenty to smile about
You could be forgiven for thinking this was a picture from 2019. Or 2018. Yep, the Hansens did it again.
