GC Kompetition has withdrawn its Unkorrupted squad from this weekend’s World Rallycross Championship double-header at Barcelona.

The sub-team of GCK has been running a pair of Renault Clio R.S cars this season for owner Guerlain Chicherit and Rokas Baciuška, while Kevin Abbring deputized for the latter at Kouvola.

The Clio R.S has struggled to match the performance levels of the main team’s Mégane RS and has not made a single final in the six rounds in 2020 so far.

The team released a statement on Thursday morning stating that it was skipping this weekend’s Barcelona rounds to address issues with the cars.

“We’ve made the decision to withdraw the Unkorrupted team from the upcoming FIA World Rallycross Championship event in Barcelona,” the team said.

“Following additional test sessions after Riga RX, we have found significant issues that cannot be addressed in time to be race-ready.”

While not competing this weekend, the team remains optimistic it will complete the World RX season post-Barcelona.

“While we’re not known to shy away from adversity or give up, this decision is the safest and best thing to do at the moment,” the statement added.

“We appreciate your support through this and our drivers and team will continue to work hard to bring you exciting race action in the future.”
