A host of star names from the world of rallycross and beyond will take part in the inaugural World Rallycross eSports Invitational this weekend.

The event, which takes the place of the 2020 World RX season opener that was supposed to happen this Saturday and Sunday before the coronavirus pandemic forced the postponement of the season, will be contested on Codemasters’ Dirt Rally 2.0 game – the official game of the World Rallycross Championship.

World RX’s two most recent champions, Timmy Hansen and Johan Kristoffersson – who is set to return to the series this season after a year away – will spearhead the charge for the discipline’s premier series, alongside Kevin Hansen, Andreas Bakkerud, Timo Scheider, Oliver Bennett, and Kevin Abbring.

Multi-RX2 champion Oliver Eriksson, his fellow Lites driver Henrik Krogstad, Super 1600 driver Marius Bermingrud, and US rallycross podium finisher Cabot Bigham round out the RX contingent.

Rally drivers Mattias Adielsson, Jon Armstrong, and Jose Antonio Suárez will also take part, with Aston Martin GT racing star Nicki Thiim the highest profile real-world driver from outside the off-road racing sphere confirmed.

As well as real world racers, high profile sim races Jimmy Broadbent and FailRace will also compete, alongside Dirt Rally 2.0 weekly challenge winners Lukáš Matěja, Killian Dall’olmo and Quentin Dall’olmo.

The event will be commentated on by regular World RX commentator and host Andrew Coley and Neil Cole, and will be broadcast live on Sunday April 19 at 2PM BST on World RX’s social media and YouTube channels.
