It was simultaneously Elfyn Evans’ dream and Kalle Rovanperä’s worst nightmare.
Just as the championship leader crashed out of a winning position and was unable to restart to rescue any powerstage points, Evans romped to victory and scooped all five bonus points as well.
Rovanperä dropped a full 30 points to his nearest championship rival. Ouch.
The question that therefore lingers: is the World Rally Championship title race back on?
After Rovanperä crushed the rest in Estonia and constructed a 55-point lead, the battle looked to be completely over? But now…?
