One of the biggest criticisms levied at the Rally1 formula is the lack of drivers competing in them.
Introduced in 2022 and bringing hybrid technology to the World Rally Championship for the very first time, the ruleset has failed to entice any new manufacturers beyond the existing trio of Toyota, Hyundai and Ford via M-Sport.
But what if we told you that the news Alberto Heller will drive a Ford Puma Rally1 on his home event, next month’s Rally Chile, means he’ll become the 20th ever driver to compete in one of these cars in the WRC?
