World Rallycross’ return to Spa-Francorchamps has been pushed back to October 3-4.

The Formula 1 venue joined the World RX schedule last year and was immediately lauded among fans and drivers alike. It was set to host the third round of the 2020 season on May 16-17, but has now been provisionally shifted later in the year after a directive from the National Security Council of Belgium.

“Due to directives issued by the National Security Council of Belgium, which include the suspension of all outdoor events in the country in light of global health concerns regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus), this year’s World RX of Benelux at Spa-Francorchamps on May 16-17 has been rescheduled,” World RX organiser IMG said in a statement.

“This decision was made after careful consideration and consultation with the FIA, the Belgian ASN and the local event organizer, as the health and safety of everyone involved remains our priority,” the statement continued. “The event has been provisionally re-scheduled for October 3-4, subject to FIA approval).”

Timur Timerzyanov won the inaugural World RX event at Spa last year, beating Andreas Bakkerud and team mate Joni Wiman to claim his and GRX’s first win in the series.
