Hamilton’s vegan burger chain becomes Extreme E partner

Multiple F1 champion’s plant-based burger restaurant will provide tailored dishes for new electric off-road series

Silverstone Test, Day 2 – Steve Etherington

New electric off-road championship Extreme E is linking up with the vegan burger chain backed by six-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton backed Neat Burger in its initial seed funding round in August last year, and the plant-based burger business is now making its first motorsport venture, become the ‘Official Plant-based Partner’ of Extreme E. Hamilton himself has been following a vegan diet since 2017.

For the tie-up, Neat Burger will serve its plant-based dishes on location at Extreme E races as well as is developing a dedicated burger for each round, tailored to the flavors and heritage of the host country.

This menu will be revealed in the coming months and will be available for order and delivery from Neat Burger restaurants each month throughout Extreme E’s inaugural championship year.

Extreme E is set in January next year to stage the first of five rounds making up its inaugural championship and has lined up several big name teams including Chip Ganassi Racing, as well as high-profile names in its driver program such as six-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Ogier.

It also has confirmed a 50:50 gender split for the driver pairings in each competing team.

Alejandro Agag, Extreme E’s founder and CEO, said: “It’s a little different for a motorsport series to have a plant-based partner but as we look to create a sport for purpose it is important to consider all the areas that impact how sustainable and environmentally friendly our championship is, and our food choices play a key role.

“Neat Burger shares the same values as Extreme E in terms of environmental wellbeing and promoting solutions for our planet, and we certainly believe it’s important for us all to acknowledge that what we eat is having a real impact on our planet.

“I’m delighted we will be serving food on our race sites that aligns so well to our values of being better for the earth.”
