A brand-new event, the New York Forest Rally, has been added to the ARA Regional schedule thanks to the work of ARA National points leader Barry McKenna’s team.

The New York Forest Rally will be a standalone Regional event, offering competitors 40 stage miles divided into eight special stages.

It will be based in the Monticello area in upstate New York and will be held on October 17.

McKenna Motorsport – which runs drivers such as Ryan Booth as well as McKenna himself in ARA National – has been instrumental in getting the event off the ground and ensuring the ARA Regional schedule remained as full as possible despite the effects of COVID-19 which already meant both the Headwaters Rally and Summer Sno*Drift were canceled.

Event organizer Martin Brady said: “Many events have been postponed and canceled this year, but we have also seen some run very successfully. On these events, we saw that it is still possible to run a safe, enjoyable rally, even with necessary restrictions.”

The New York Forest Rally will run after the Show Me Rally on October 2-3, where ARA National and Regional join forces, before the Regional season concludes with Rally Nevada (November 7) and Nemadji Trail Rally (December 5).

More information on the New York Forest Rally will be made available to competitors in the coming days via the rally’s website.
